About the Project

Mapping Art Histories

Mapping Art Histories in the Arab World, Iran and Turkey is funded by the Getty Foundation in conjunction with the Association for Modern and Contemporary Art of the Arab World, Iran and Turkey (AMCA) and is facilitated by the University of North Texas.

The goals of the project center on the collection and analysis of data on Art Historical pedagogy and historiographic research from within the MENA region with the aim of better understanding how the field of Art History developed and how it was/is perceived by the cultural communities of the project’s 16 target countries.
